Little Big Boy

My little boy will often, since he has seen How to Train Your Dragon, speak in Viking. "RRAH [this is reminiscent of Jon Stewart mimicking Dick Cheney, hauntingly so] I'm going to the MEAT store. I'm going to eat MEAT. . . . (but not really) . . . GIVE ME THE BREAD . . RRAHH!"

And sometimes, at bedtime as we snuggle in our bed, I and my littles, he likes to play baby bunnies, with a cutesy little bunny voice, inviting his sister under the covers into his "den" (or violently excluding her, whichever most suits his whim) and calling out for the mommy bunny to come home, or cowering and hiding from the "fox."

This game is pretty neat, by the way, because we really do come upon bunnies often in our neighborhood. Sometimes they dart out from the blackberry vines by the garden when we walk past.

Anyway, I think those two voices really characterize Andrew right now. Sometimes he feels stomping, bullish, IMpolite. At other times, babyish, sweet, cuddly. I am so proud that he's worked out a way to express himself and fulfill all those emotional needs peacefully and with a little fun drawn in. Except I won't take him to the meat store.
